We are legally no longer able to sell air bags in New York State.
The following is an excerpt from the NYS DMV
web site:http://www.nysdmv.com/broch/htln10-02.htm#airbag
UNCERTIFIED SALVAGED AIRBAGS
NO LONGER ALLOWED
Section 415c of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, effective March 1, 1999, required that prior to offering any salvaged inflatable restraint system for sale, such system be certified according to standards established by a nationally recognized testing, engineering and research body approved by the Commissioner in consultation with the Superintendent of Insurance. No such entity has asked to be, nor been approved, in spite of the efforts of the industry and the State. The law also requires that in the absence of properly certified salvage air bags, only new airbags are allowed to be installed where the original has been deployed. The State was prohibited from enforcing the law due to litigation until a recent court ruling which reinstated the law.
The use of new airbags is required any time a deployed air bag must be replaced. In order to give time for proper notice to all interested parties, the DMV will not begin to enforce the reinstated law until December 23, 2002.
Beginning December 23, 2002 DMV investigators will reject any vehicle presented
for a salvage examination if the vehicle was repaired using a salvaged airbag
and the application for a salvage examination was received by the Department
of Motor Vehicles on or after that date.
END OF EXCERPT
If the law changes we will consider adding them to our product line again.
